I just got past 3200, which makes me one day behind. You win some, you lose some. Just hang out for the big crazy surge where you blink suddenly and go, "holy crap. I just wrote 5000 words in one sitting, how did that happen??" and suddenly you will have caught up. It will happen.

I'm about 4797 words behind where I should be I'll have to make up for it today. writing to the romance/how-to genre is tough going.

romance/how-to and maybe. I don't think I have enough inappropriate metaphors or home repair knowledge in me for an entire book. I still need to will myself to actually start.

My genre is semi-realistic narrative fiction.

I love your first chunk of novel so far, Luke!
Good first sentences everyone.
Maybe everyone should set up their own thread and post their updates as they make them, but we'll keep the comments about them in this thread so that they don't get confusing?

Thanks Grug. I put up part three on my blog this evening.
I'm not sure there's enough traffic in this thread to warrant it branching out into multiples yet? Maybe...

I would imagine that if folk want to start their own to showcase their work that'd be fine. we can always consolidate later if needed (we have the technology)

I'm behind - just hit 4000, should be a bit past 6000 by now. I'm not worried yet. Weekends are huge word-churners. Or they are if you have minimal social commitments.*
*My social commitment from this weekend on is Rock Band. maybe nano will be harder this year...

I am also far behind. Have got 4665. Should be over 8000 by now. Lots coming up this week as well. Social commitments and party weekend time. Just took on to co-write a play on top of it all!

You're not far behind me, man. I'm at 5300. But one good day and you can write a ton. I did 10,000 in one day a couple of times on the old one.
I'm scared I'm in a similar boat because I have lots of distractions in the next few days but it can happen. Just throw a few sentences into it whenever you can, and make use of the time when it flows.

I'm way behind at 3450, but I've been getting a lot done over the last two days. I've found a few different times during the day that I can get down about 400 words at a time.

I'm at 4000. I missed two writing days and fell short on another. I'm not freaked out yet. I'm aware that my biggest writing times are weekends. Although Rock Band will interfere with that - I will need to have a break from rockband occasionally for the sake of my hands though. Although that wont be great for typing. damn.

This is making me feel much better. Unfortunately though I don't have the weekend on my side!
