This is something I started over on GMS today, and I thought I'd open it up to you guys to, as you're some of the most creative people I know. The basic idea is to create an "open source" comic book. One that has a set, agreed upon backstory, that is all decided upon by the community. Then we take that canon and allow ANYBODY to create new stories using that universe. There would be rules for character use that people would have to adhere to, and for legal reasons, the copyright would ultimately fall to the site to make sure it STAYS free to use, but I think there's potential here, and I'd love to hear people's thoughts. Check out the full story here: greymattersplat.freeforums.org/group-project-design-a-comic-book-t232.html(I almost put this in the "pimp your shit" section, but I ultimately decided it WAS a group project. Feel free to move this if I've overstepped.)

Thats a pretty cool project to be heading up Mike, would love to see what comes of it. Interestingly enough, I was just listening to a podcast about shared ip rights to comic book characters, stories, and worlds, pehaps it would be of interest to you: media.farpointmedia.net/fbsd/BSP_SE07_081120.mp3their guest is a comic book IP lawyer and is the source of the majority of the info.

cool idea...have to keep an eye on it, although I can't draw for shit...i wouldn't mind scripting a comic. Not that I have any idea how to do that....but still it'd be fun to try
