The long outstanding Owen book 2...

Yeah I need a kick up the arse to get on with this!

Basically Owen is a wheelman story set in a war between German and Russian mafia. There are no good guys, just all sorts of seedy gansters with their own agendas. It's by no means an intellectual piece, it's more the sort of thing John Woo would produce. But that's what I like and that's why I'm writing it!

It's looking great, even better than the first Owen I have. I know I'm a broken record with this, and you must be sick of hearing it, but I just love your cars. The downshot of the parked cars is amazing.

I was listening to an interview with an artist at www.inkstuds.com (can't remember which one, I listened to many that week) and he was talking about what a bitch it was to draw cars and how everyone hates having to do it. He wanted to know what happened to all those guys in high school who would draw awesome cars all day. He was like let's round them up and give them a job.

(Oh, I do remember, it was crazy bastard Dave Sim taking a break from hating on women).

I like that, despite being crucified, Jesus can appreciate a good rack too.

I hate drawing cars. They're impossible. That's why you get so many awesome Japanese artists. They draw cars perfectly and once they've done that suddenly everything else is completely easy and they make stuff like mecha and ghost in the shell and stuff.

And I agree, this stuff is fantastic. I want to see more pages up here. Those are some sweet uzis too, I'd love to see a panel where a character is firing one and there's an arc of empty canisters flying out of one of the things.

And to set the Euro vibe for the comic, have you considered finding some pic touristy pics of european german/russian buildings and copying them into a big panel? It's pretty obviously from the first page you can handle technical drawings easily, so this could make a really cool background, if just for one page while other stuff is going on. A big Russian stone hulk or a some ultramodern german enclave or something...

Keep it up dude, how many pages do you expect it to get to?

I'm always in awe of anyone who can draw worth a damn, and I gotta say, you have some talent. (I would always trace pictures pf cars btw to varying effect)

I agree with andreib, some scenery shots would give a nice atmosphere. But, I'd love to see what you already have when it's colored and dialog(ed).

I don't think I saw this the first time around, but it looks amazing. The cars and guns are really well done.

Hadn't seen the response but just went to post up the next two pages - Thanks all... oddly enough i'd just done what Andrei had suggested re: the scenery shots, more to as a timing element than anything else but it definately helps make the page more interesting.





some anatomy problems here and there but i'll tidy it up a bit more before inking, the main thing is to keep rolling for now!

very nice! Tell me, how long approximately does it take you to do a page?

Hard to say - I did these two over the course of 3 days and had good 3-4 hour drawing sessions. But I generally walk past the drawing desk and add touch-ups when I've got a minute. Maybe if I had uninterrupted time about 4 hours for a really detailed page, especially with the cars (I actually thought the Chrysler would be easier to draw but it's not!). Given this story arc runs out for 100 pages, I still got a bit of work to do :S

still that's really good....i'm always amazed at people who draw well....they also always seem so much faster....like, I have never been good at drawing but I like to, and to draw something not nearly as good as one panel of what you have up there would take me days....

WOW! These pencils look damn good. Got a few small issues on a couple, but nothin that can't be change easily.

I'm gonna start inkin some of these!!!

Anyways, went to print and I'm outta ink!!!! SOB!!!
After turnig all them pages into non-photoblue lines too!! Thats what I get for not checkin first. Mayeb I will just take them on a jumpdrive to kinkos and have them print them..isn't that much to do that.

Got pages 1-3 printed last night. And I should be able to have all three done by tomorrow. well that's the plan anyways.

Guess I will have to wait on that one now. I wont have a car today. the wife is going to be out with a few friends.
