So, I just found out that this thing is in 3 weeks. October 3rd to be precise (which sucks given that that it also the last weekend of the Royal Show). So what's going on? We doing this? If so, where? Any chance that anyone (Luke?) still has a contact on at the FTI Fremantle that they could convince to lend us the space? I imagine without Artrage hosting we could do something like everyone chips in $10 or so to help cover the costs of snacks/drinks/pizza. What do you all think of that? --------------------- Whoops, figure I should post the official website for info and stuff: www.24hourcomicsday.com

I was going to try and host this at our venue, but I don't think we're ready this year. Definitely 100% for next year though.

I'm thinking that it may be too late for anything to get set up at this point. I had thought it'd be mid October when I was looking it up yesterday.
This sucks. :/

Well, turns out that Luke is swamped with his own stuff, so he's not going to be able to organise anything for us. And it also turns out that his two contacts at the FTI have moved on as well.
So, I'm trying to see if UWA may be able to lend us the space. The people I talked to about it sounded keen on the idea, but there may be an issue with letting people stay there overnight, so I'm trying to find out more. At the least, they may require a UWA staff member to be present, which may be difficult to convince someone to do, unless they were taking part in it too.
So, anyone else have an idea? I've been recommended to The Kurb, but I imagine that'll be too expensive. Also the Fremantle Arts Centre, anyone know anything about that place? I may try to find out more tomorrow.

Does The Kurb have tables?
I'd like to participate but I am working on some stuff for Luke's show too and that stuff will have to take precedence...
I'll see how much of that I can get done first.

Yeah I think my lecturer was a little confused. I think he was thinking that we wanted space to rent that we could do what we want with it.
Dang, that makes two people out now. Well, possibly two. That does suck.

If I get the stuff for Luke's show done, I will probably do one at home.

I tried to set up something for the 24 hour comic for 3 straight years, when I ran a shop. At every turn, I was shot down and sabotaged by the general manager, all while he was telling me how good an idea it was for us to get involved with it. I've been away from the shop for a year now, and now all the idea does is leave a bitter taste in my mouth. I think I'll spend that day playing World of Warcraft.

Well, after talking with a bloke at FTI both on Monday then following up yesterday, I don't think it'll be on. He said that they were interested, but seeing as to how the people usually involved had moved on meant that it would take a bit longer to organise. So with less then two weeks, that isn't happening at this point.
So I've made a note in my calendar for June 1st next year to start looking into it. I've already started making a list potential sponsors as well as editor's of local papers who may be interested in running a story or two hyping the event (and giving a nod to the sponsors).
So I think I'l be doing it at home. Maybe I'l post it on here as I go along. In fact, I encourage anyone interested in doing this here to do so as well.

Well, I start in about 2 minutes. Just a reminder to everyone that it's today!
