(Lisa Max, the other half of the show has a Etsy shop too, but I'm not sure where it is... I'll find out)

damn that stuff is awesome. I want to host art shows like that here. I have the space, just no artists! Come to NJ, please?
Did the Elephant sell? That one is great.

J, you should get a grant, or some sponsorship or something and run a mini festival over there. A couple of weeks of events. Then I'll come over and help you run it. And then we can elope.

That would be awesome. I will need to pick your brain some more once I get things going more fully. Speaking of that, I knocked down more walls tonight. We're making a proper backstage, a box office walk-up window, and a marquee above our theater room entrance. It's at least going to look awesome when it's done.

are you taking pictures of your progress with the theater? it seems that this is a project unto itself that you can document. you're like the phil of the indoor world, except you're J.

This one? I'm not sure. That's one of Lisa's. Probably though! EDIT: Looking at the photo more closely, I can see it totally DID sell. In other news, my actual PAYING comic job just ended (well, I just got told it's going to end, I've got ten pages left of this chapter, and then there'll be some kind of capper for the story) It's sad, because it is actually a really good series, and it was also a really interesting experience for me because the readers were... um, like the really mainstream webcomics readers. (that's a weird idea) I'd get lots of comments and discussions about strips, and far more daily readers than I normally get. (1000 a day) Unfortunately, not enough to pay my page rate. Also, the guys were fantastic to work with. While payments were sometimes a little slow, they came. They were very complimentary about the art, and honest about what didn't work for them (which is something that is really important in collaborations). Anyway, I'd happily work with either or both of them again. On the other hand, I suddenly have the time to work on the many other projects that I had to put on hold. Both my personal ones, and the other collaborations. In some ways it was really quite daunting to me to be working on a comic that was pretty much not going to end. I admit I prefer finite stories. Mini comics, graphic novels and the like. Anyway, this means, who ever gets me their script first gets my full attention! (Luke and Jessica, hint hint!)

Haha. Phil could build concrete patios around me any day.
I just have ideas and draw lines all over the walls, and call my Dad to come over and help. I haven't really ventured out on my own with any of that until just recently. I'm definitely still afraid of power tools.
I've taken a few photos, but not enough. I think I took a few good "before" photos. It was an old insurance office with furniture still lingering around from the 1950's.

Yeah, that's the Elephant I was talking about. My daughter's name is Elle, so I'm always picking up Elephant stuff. That would look great in her room. Now she just has a framed poster of Elmo waering blue jeans.
Sorry to hear about your comic job. It seems like everyone I know is losing out on some form of work. Hope something similar comes along soon.

Man, thanks to the Australian dollar being so bad at the moment, it really paid to be working for Americans! I just got paid for two chapters work, and it was just over $1090 Aus dollars!
I'm gonna miss that!
Ah well, like I said, I can work on these other projects. And I feel like the iron is kinda hot right now, it would be a good time for me to be shopping around a book.

So I have to get back to my script for you! Just when I was going to catch up on my novel. I have wasted so much time lately. The days just fly by.
It would be good to also get all the character designs fully locked as the visuals help me along too. I know we're pretty much there already, but there's a few little things.
Is there a way that you prefer to receive scripts? I wasn't going to break it down into panels or anything, I was going to let you pace it, and I'll just do my best to describe the tone and the 'performance'. And then when you lay it out we can add or subtract dialogue accordingly.

I am happy however you want to give me the scripts, the only problem is when I pace things they tend to move really slow.
Like the comic you scripted that I drew in the latest Bunnies book would probably have been a two pager for you, right? And was a three pager for me. (And to be honest, could very easily have been four.)
And yes! Sorry the character designs stopped coming, now that our home is a lot calmer, work will resume!

Sweet. I have an entire outline for the first issue. And some skeletal dialogue too. I just need to put it back on my radar and I should be able to crank something out within the next week.
As for pace I'll just put a few notes as to what moments I think need drawing attention to and what ones I don't. Going back to Dungeon as an example there are a lot of big set pieces and reveals that don't get huge splash pages, but are actually compacted quite nicely into relatively dense pages. i quite like how that works because when he does do a splash it really IS something big. It has a lot of impact.
I think there'll be that adjustment period for both of us. It feels weird for me writing a comic as a script because it seems cold. So much comes from the characters look and performance that you don't get on the page. So I second guess a lot. I think, that's not too funny, but then you have to try and visualise the character performing it in the scene and guess at how that might work.

Sounds good, I still have ten more pages of this chapter of Sketchies to go.
That is exactly two weeks of updates. So don't feel like you have to rush too much!

Okay cool. Two weeks would be a good target for me now anyway. I may as well get my part down. Then you can work on it at your leisure.
